UPDATE: AvtoVAZ to reintroduce downtime next week on lack of components

SAMARA/MOSCOW, Jun 9 (PRIME) -- Russian car producer AvtoVAZ will introduce downtime again next week because of the absence of components at the B0 and Niva assembly lines, the trade union said on its VK social network page on Thursday.

"Due to the absence of components, an order on downtime at AvtoVAZ… was signed for the period from June 14 until June 17, 2022," the union said.

AvtoVAZ said in a statement that it will restart the Niva line in July. “In July, AvtoVAZ will resume production at the Niva line,” the statement read.

The facilities of the carmaker have announced downtime multiple times earlier this year and changed the dates of the corporate vacations to April 4–24 from summer. On Wednesday, AvtoVAZ resumed production of the Lada Granta model in its classic version with a minimal share of imported components.
